OLYMPICS : RUSSIAN TEAM ESCAPES SWEEPING BAN !
Russia has escaped a sweeping ban of its entire contingent to the 2016 Rio Olympics as the powerful International Olympics Committee (IOC) rejected the ban. The IOC has allowed Russia to compete in Rio with the conditions that their athletes be tested for drugs strictly by the respective individual sport governing body - a decision viewed by many as flimsy and a "passing-the-buck" antics. Russia is already engulfed in a quagmire in what could be the ugliest scandal in all sports, following a World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) findings confirming widespread doping among Russian athletes in cahoots with the Russian government itself. Russia has evaded a full global embarrassment for now, as its Olympic contingent is heading for Rio.
