TENNIS : ANGELIQUE KERBER STOPS KAROLINA PLISKOVA; WINS US OPEN IN SCARY ESCAPE ! !

Angelique Kerber has stopped Karolina Pliskova's onslaught in the US Open to take the Championship Title and climax the year with her new crown - the brand new World No.1!

Kerber thwarted Pliskova in a 3-Set thriller in the US Open Championship Finals, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.

Kerber took the first Set, after an early break, but Pliskova quickly responded and took the second Set, forcing a decider.

Pliskova, so sharp and dangerous, dominated much of the match with her stinging first serves, terrific shot-making, and deadly flat backhand winners.

She broke Kerber early in the deciding 3rd Set, and looked firm to hold serve - her very own strength and weapon - to win the Title.

But Pliskova gave away some crucial points in easy unforced errors. Kerber capitalized and stood her ground with consistent ground strokes, never looked back after breaking back, and went on to close out the match!

Kerber goes home with an amazing, career best season for 2016 - Championship Title at the US Open, Championship Title at the Australian Open, 1st Runner-Up Trophy at Wimbledon, and a Silver Medal at the Rio Olympic Games!

And, a fat $3.5 Million Dollar championship prize from the US Open, of course!

Pliskova, on the hand, was having a time of her life. She eliminated Tennis Legend Venus Williams, in the 4th Round, rising star Anna Konjuh in the Quarter Finals, and Tennis Queen Serena Williams in the Semi Finals - to get to the Championship Finals.

It was her first appearances in the 4th Round, Quarter Finals, Semi Finals - and Championship Finals- of any Grand Slam.

The girl with arm and leg tattoos, came a little bit short of sending shockwaves to the tennis world.

Nerves, maybe?

At age 24, we will hear more of this dangerous beauty, in the Tournaments to come - for sure!
