TENNIS : RAFAEL NADAL WINS DEFAMATION CASE AGAINST FRANCE'S FORMER SPORT MINISTER WHO ACCUSED HIM OF DOPING !
Tennis Legend Rafael Nadal has won a lawsuit he filed against a former Sports Minister of France who had accused him of doping.Tweet
Roselyne Bachelot, a long-time French politician for 30 years, had publicly stated on French TV in March 2016 that Rafael Nadal tested positive on drugs in 2012, and that he - - in fact - - faked an injury to hide it.
Rafael Nadal filed the defamation charges against Bachelot the following month in April 2016, but the case has dragged on apparently due to mounting court backlogs.
Now in its decision released today, the French court ordered Bahcelot to pay Nadal EUR 10,000 Euros in damages plus EUR 2,000 in legal costs for defaming him.
Rafael Nadal @RafaelNadal posted his message on Facebook and Twitter following the court ruling, saying he will donate the money to French charity.
Roselyne Bachelot @R_Bachelot, a high-ranking, high-profile French politician, was Sports Minister of France from 2007 to 2010.
She first became a member of French Parliament in 1988 and had held multiple powerful Cabinet positions since then.
