TENNIS : VENUS WILLIAMS ESCAPES POTENTIAL JAIL OVER FATAL CAR CRASH !
Seven-Time Grand Slam Champion Venus Williams has just escaped potential jail.Tweet
Florida Police said Williams will not face criminal charges for a fatal car crash she was involved in, last June, where a 78-year-old man had been killed.
Venus Williams @VenusesWilliams, 37, was driving her Toyota SUV when T-Boned at an intersection in Palms Beach Gardens, June 09.
The car that T-Boned Williams was a Hyundai Accent driven by Linda Barson,68, with her husband Jerome Barson, 78, at the passenger seat.
Jerome Barson died two weeks later at the hospital from injuries as a result of the collision, while Linda Barson, admitted to a hospital, was later discharged.
Jerome Barson and Linda Barson were married for 33 years.
Linda Barson later filed a lawsuit for wrongful death of her husband against Williams.
The Barson's lawyer claimed, Venus Williams appeared to have her hand moving towards her face, shortly before the collision, indicating she might be using her mobile phone at the time of the crash.
Williams, thru her lawyers, blocked a move to have her mobile phone records examined.
Responding further to the lawsuit, Venus Williams maintained her innocence and returned the blame to the victims who were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident, and failed to maintain or repair their car to be in good condition, she countered.
Also, a third unidentified driver apparently violated Williams' right of way on the intersection, barely seconds before the accident, causing her to stop and slow down, as a result, she was T-Boned by the oncoming Linda Barson.
Following months of investigation, Florida Police determined, Williams entered the intersection lawfully and did not violate at all the Barson's right of way, exonerating her from criminal culpability, it was announced today.
In July, Venus Williams, who expressed her "heartfelt condolences" to the victim's family on her FaceBook, broke down in tears at her Press Conference at Wimbledon when asked about the tragic accident.
Williams then went on to win up through the Semi-Finals, but succumbed to Garbine Muguruza in the Championship Finals.
