At age just 29, in a sport where 35 now seems to be the new 25, her announcement of her retirement came as a huge surprise -- if not shock -- to many in the tennis world.
Ana Ivanovic, arguably one of the most beautiful and most recognizable women in sports, has won one Grand Slam in her career - - the French Open in 2008 at age just 20.
Prior to winning her French Open crown in 2008, Ivanovic was Finalist at the Australian Open in the same year, and also Finalist at the French Open and Semi-Finalist at Wimbledon shortly before that in 2007.
At her very young age then, Ana Ivanovic has captivated the world with her tennis prowess and charm.
Many expected her to win many more Grand Slams.
But her French Open crown proved to be her first -- and her last.
In July of 2016, Ana Ivanovic married Football Star Bastian Schweinsteiger of Germany in a romantic, lavish nuptials in Venice, Italy after almost two years of relationship.
Just some five months into her married life, Ana Ivanovic suddenly retired from tennis.
Ivanovic had a Career Prize money of $15.5 Million while her husband Bastian Schweinsteiger reportedly has a net worth of $82 Million.
