The Tokyo 2020 Olympics faces a tense moment in history that may put the thousand-year-old sport tradition to test amid fears of the Corona Virus spreading to more countries around the world, some quarters calling for the quadrennial event to be cancelled entirely. In the last 124 years, the modern Olympics had only been cancelled 3 times, first in 1916 during World War I; and in 1940 and 1944 during World War II. The ancient Olympic tradition dates back to 8th Century BC.
