WORLD CUP 2018 : UK'S BORIS JOHNSON COMPARES RUSSIA WORLD CUP TO 'HITLER OLYMPICS' !
The worsening diplomatic row between the UK and Russia over the recent nerve poisoning of a Russian double agent in England just had an uglier turn, the World Cup now getting caught up in the crossfire.Tweet
Enraged by the spy poisoning right on its backyard, the UK had expelled 23 Russian diplomats, Russia quickly retaliating tit-for-tat, expelled 23 British diplomats from Moscow, too.
Russian double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia were poisoned reportedly with a Russian military-grade nerve chemical agent in a daring covert operation in Salisbury, England on March 4, brandishing hallmarks of a classic 'James Bond' British-versus-Russian double spy movie.
Sergei, daughter Yulia and a responding British police officer were rushed to hospital in serious conditions, as a result of the nerve poisoning.
This is the second time Russia had allegedly carried out sensational assassination plot on their own former spies by nerve chemical poisoning on British soil. The British government had publicly accused the Russian government of masterminding both poisonings.
Speaking before the British House of Commons, the flamboyant former Mayor of London and now UK’s Foreign Affairs Secretary, Boris Johnson @BorisJohnson launched an scathing attack on Russian President Vladimir Putin, concurring with colleagues in Parliament hall that the World Cup 2018 in Russia will be like the 1936 Hitler Olympics.
Russian officials again quickly returned fire with wit sarcasm, saying Boris Johnson is “poisoned with venom of hate, unprofessionalism and boorishness".
Reports of English football fans boycotting the Russia World Cup emerged afterwards, but British officials shrugged cold shoulders when asked to confirm.
