WORLD : TENNIS GREAT MARIA SHARAPOVA RETIRES FROM TENNIS !

After 20 years cusping a colourful professional career, complete with all the drama, scars and battles; and giving almost her entire life to tennis which she professed was her first love, Maria Sharapova - - once the highest paid female athlete in any sport on Earth - - has officially bowed out from the sport, for good.

AS A RESULT OF THE SURGERY, HIS 'GOAT-NESS' ROGER FEDERER WILL HAVE TO SKIP MAJOR TENNIS EVENTS INCLUDING DUBAI, INDIAN WELLS, BOGOTA, MIAMI AND THE FRENCH OPEN.

THOUGH MEDICAL EXPERTS VIEW THE SURGICAL PROCEDURE AS A MINOR PROCEDURE, FEDERER WILL NEED TIME ENOUGH FOR HIS FULL RECOVERY.

TENNIS : DOMINIC THIEM CRACKS; NOVAK DJOKOVIC WINS RECORD 8TH AUSTRALIAN OPEN TITLE !

TENNIS GREAT NOVAK DJOKOVIC HAS WON HIS 17TH GRAND SLAM TITLE WITH A RECORD 8TH WIN AT THE AUSTRALIAN OPEN, AFTER THWARTING A DOMINANT DOMINIC THIEM WHO CRACKED UNDER INTENSE MERCURY PRESSURE AND BLEW HIS 2 -1 SET LEAD IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP BATTLE.

NOVAK DJOKOVIC, WITH HIS NEW TOTAL OF 17 GRAND SLAM TROPHIES, IS NOW INCHING CLOSER AND CLOSER TO ROGER FEDERER'S HISTORIC 20 AND RAFAEL NADAL'S 19 TOTAL GRAND SLAM CROWNS.

NOVAK DJOKOVIC, WHO HAD SOME ISSUES WITH THE CROWD, AND A SARCASTIC BRUSH WITH THE CHAIR UMPIRE FOLLOWING AN UNHOLY SERVE CLOCK VIOLATION CALL AGAINST HIM, WAS DANGEROUSLY TRAILING BEHIND DOMINIC THIEM, WHO LOOKED HELL-BENT IN BURYING THE 'JOKER' IN THE 4TH SET.
