The "Joker", currently World No. 4, has been bugged by a stubborn elbow injury for the last 18 months, with the pain apparently peaking at Wimbledon, just couple of weeks ago.
Djokovic broke the news from his hometown Serbia. He released his official statement on Facebook and Twitter, confirming his decision.
"Recovery (and) health, most important now!", his former coach, Tennis Legend Boris Becker, tweeted following Djokovic's announcement, with a shout-out "Get well soon, Novak!" @TheBorisBecker.
