GOLF : JASON DAY WITHDRAWS FROM TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP ! - - DUSTIN JOHNSON KEEPS EYES ON THE PRIZE !
World No.1 Jason Day is out. He withdraws from the Tour Championship due to a stubborn back injury, says his team. This is Day's second straight withdrawal from a Play-off Event due to his injury.
As a result, Jason Day - just three shots behind the Tour Championship lead - now misses the chance for the much-coveted $10 Million Dollar prize for the FedEx Cup. And, the Player Of The Year crown.
Jason Day also withdrew from the BMW Championship in Indiana- the penultimate FedEx Cup Play-off - only two weeks ago, for the same reason.
Day withdrew this time from the Tour Championship in Atlanta, as a "precaution", says a statement from his management.
He is set to swing back into action at the Australian Open in November, they said.
Meanwhile, World No. 2 Dustin Johnson now has his eyes on the prize.
But even with Day out of the Tour Championship, it wouldn't be a walk in the park for Johnson.
With just one shot ahead of the pack at the moment, anything can happen.
Quite literally.
