Federer has kicked off 2017 by winning his first match at the Hopman Cup in Perth, Australia.
Roger Federer had spent some time frolicking in the Swiss Alps during his time-off, recovering from his stubborn knee injury.
Federer last competed at Wimbledon last July of 2016, but had missed the French Open prior.
It was the first time Federer had missed a Grand Slam tournament in 16 years.
After Wimbledon, Federer subsequently missed the US Open.
On Roger Federer's return, comes the biggest question in everyone's mind in the sport: can he make more history?
At 35, Roger Federer -- considered to be The Greatest of All Time -- has won a record 17 Grand Slam Championship trophies.
