TENNIS : MARIA SHARAPOVA CRASHES OUT OF US OPEN ; WILD CARD RUN ENDS IN 4TH ROUND !
Controversial Tennis Star Maria Sharapova has been defeated by World No. 17 Anastasija Sevastova of Latvia at the US Open.Tweet
Shapova's loss in the Fourth Round ends her wild card run in New York, which started with a big bang , knocking out World No.2 Simona Halep in a dramatic First Round epic on her Day 1.

Sharapova has embroiled herself in an ugly controversy when she flunked a drug test at the Australian Open in January of 2016.
She later admitted taking Meldonium, a performance-enhancing drug, for at least 10 years in her career.
Meldonium recently came under the radar of anti-doping watchdogs and was banned only in January 2016 by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
The drug, developed in Latvia near Russia, is a popular performance-enhancer with an alarming growing number of athletes using this drug, intentionally to enhance performance, it was revealed recently.
Sharopova's appearance at the US Open is her first Grand Slam appearance, since serving a 15-month ban for doping.
She was awarded a wild card by the US Open.
Sharapova was denied a wild card at the French Open in May, and didn't ask for a wild card at the subsequent Wimbledon in July - - perhaps, knowing what was coming.
Maria Sharapova has been one of the highest paid female athletes in the world, for more than a decade now.
