TENNIS : JANA NOVOTNA, TENNIS HALL OF FAMER AND WIMBLEDON CHAMPION, DIES AT AGE 49 !
Tennis Hall Of Famer Jana Novotna has died.
She was 49.
Jana Novotna was 1998 Wimbledon Champion @Wimbledon , and had won 12 Grand Slam Doubles crowns, including 4 Grand Slam Mixed Doubles trophies, under her belt.
She was inducted into the International Tennis Hall Of Fame @TennisHalloFamme in 2005.
Novotna succumbed to a long battle with cancer, and had died "peacefully surrounded by her family" in her native Czech Republic, Sunday.
Tributes pour, as the the tennis world mourns the loss of an athlete, described by her peers as a "true champion".
Perhaps, Jana Novotna is best remembered with her emotional loss to Tennis Great Steffi Graf @OfficalSteffiGraf in 1993, at the Wimbledon Championship Final, where she blew a commanding 4-1 lead in the deciding Set.
She broke down in tears, with no less than the Duchess of Kent trying to comfort her in front of thousands at Wimbledon's iconic Centre Court.
It was one of the most captivating moments in Wimbledon's modern history.
