TENNIS : ROGER FEDERER DETHRONES RAFAEL NADAL AS NEW WORLD NO.1; BECOMES OLDEST NO. 1 IN HISTORY !
No one probably wants to be labelled "the oldest" in any kind.
But, "the oldest" ever World No.1?
I'll take that, anytime.
His Majesty Roger Federer, now 36, smashes yet another world record in tennis history, by being the oldest World No. 1, ever .
Federer surpasses Tennis Great Andre Agassi @AndreAgassi who held the record since 2003, at age 33.
Federer, record 20-Time Grand Slam Champion, retakes his old throne as World No.1 following his Quarter Finals victory over Netherlands' Robin Haase at the Rotterdam Open.
Roger Federer displaces long-time rival Rafael Nadal @RafaelNadal at the Word No.1 spot, which Federer last held in 2012.
Now deemed immortal in the history books of the sport, Federer also holds the record of the longest-reigning World No.1, being at the top for a breathtaking 302 Weeks overall - - 237 of which were consecutive.
If we do the simple math, that's more than 6 years of being World. No.1!
Most people are dreaming of being World No.1, even just for one week.
Roger Federer, emotional following his win in Rotterdam marking yet another milestone in the sport, later made light of his own remarkable feat on Twitter.
"Apparently I'm the oldest tennis player with a No. 1 ranking . . . but I had a hard time hearing", humorously tweets the Swiss Wizard @RogerFederer.
No, Roger Ferderer's hearing is not aging, at all.
He is ageless - - and timeless, remember?
