TENNIS : STAN WAWRINKA FALLS STEEP IN WORLD RANKING FOLLOWING FIRST ROUND KO AT FRENCH OPEN !
Three-Time Grand Slam Champion Stan Wawrinka @StanWawrinka will dive into a steep fall in the World Rankings after being KO'd in the First Round at the French Open @RolandGarros, Monday.Tweet
Wawrinka, French Open Champion in 2015 and Finalist in 2017, is currently World No. 30.
He will fall to World No. 256 following his 5-Set defeat by Spain's Guillermo Garcia Lopez in the First Round at Roland Garros, 6-2; 3-6; 4-6; 7-6; 6-3.
Wawrinka has been dogged by knee problems following his knee surgery last year.
With his sharp fall in the ATP World Rankings, Wawrinka will need some wild cards to play in big tournaments, otherwise face further punishment on court with his injury in the qualifying.
Stan Wawrinka, now 33, has been considered one of the deadliest men in tennis, outside the "Big Four".
Sure, Wawrinka is down right now, but could he still be dangerous?
Absolutely.
