ATHLETICS : OSCAR PISTORIUS' MURDER SENTENCE AGGRAVATED; INCREASED BY SOUTH AFRICA'S SUPREME COURT OF APPEAL FROM 6 TO 13 YEARS !

The unending saga of the Murder Trial of the Century - - Oscar Pistorius's Valentine's Day murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp - - has just had another twist and turn.

His original murder sentence of 6 years imprisonment, has been extended to 13 years by South Africa's Appeals Court, Friday.

It its ruling, Oscar Pistorius was handed down 15 years by the Supreme Court Of Appeal - - the minimum sentence for murder, under South African criminal laws - - less time he already served.

Oscar Pistorius @OscarPistorius is a world celebrity known as The Blade Runner, for his blade-like, carbon fiber prosthetic legs, he used for running.

He became the first human being to compete in the Olympics with 2 amputated legs - - using prosthetics to compete at the 2012 London Olympic Games @London 2012.

Prior to his historic Olympic quest, Pistorius was already a bemedalled Paralympian @Paralympics.

Oscar Pistorius was born with deformities on his feet, both his legs were later amputated when he was 11 months old.

In July 2016, Pistorius was convicted of killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, a celebrity model, inside his home on Valentine's Day, February 14 of 2013.

Pistorius allegedly was outraged, Steenkamp had gone out for the night, the fight escalated and Pistorious shot Steenkamp to death behind their toilet doors, where Steenkamp had locked herself inside, for fear for her life.

Later revealed, their relationship was already in turmoil, and Steenkamp was about to leave Pistorius.

A celebrated case, a high-profile murder trial ensued, with real-life court drama beamed on worldwide Television.

For his defense, Oscar Pistorius claimed he had shot his girlfriend by mistake, having mistaken her for an intruder, hiding inside their toilet.

The court did not buy his flimsy alibi.

Oscar Pistorius and Reeva Steenkamp @ReevaSteenkamp first met on November 2012 at a car race track - - only 3 months prior to Steenkamp's murder.

Quickly, they became a celebrity couple inspiring people from all walks of life - - in Africa and across the globe.

Their tragic love-murder story has transfixed the world, since.

Perhaps, only next to the O.J. Simpson murders.

South Africa's highest appellate court sentenced the former athlete OscarPistorius to 13 years and five months in prison for manslaughter. The decision of Friday significantly increased the sentence of the previous instance of six years imprisonment.
