TENNIS : STAN WAWRINKA ALSO OUT OF TENNIS FOR THE REST OF 2017 ; UNABLE TO DEFEND US OPEN CROWN !
Three-Time Grand Slam Champion Stan Wawrinka is unable to defend his US Open title this year.

Wawrinka, currently World No 4, has withdrawn from tennis for the rest of 2017 due to his knee injury.

Stan Wawrinka issued his statement on Facebook, announcing his decision.

"I had to make a difficult decision to undergo a medical intervention on my knee", said the 32-year-old Swiss.

Stan Wawrinka is the second Grand Slam Champion to announce withdrawal from tennis this year due to injury.

Novak Djokovic, 12-Time Grand Slam Champion, announced the same over a week ago.

With the world's top tennis players now apparently aging, and are over the age of 30 - - Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic - - wear and tear seems to be catching up pretty nasty.

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal both exited early from the tour in 2016, to rest and recover, but came back stronger in 2017 - - already winning one more Grand Slam Trophy, apiece.
