TENNIS : ROGER FEDERER ENDS HYEON CHUNG'S WILD RUN AT AUSTRALIAN OPEN ; CHEONG RETIRES IN 2ND SET, SEMI FINALS DUE TO INJURY !
Roger Federer @RogerFederer has just put an abrupt end to Hyeon Chung's wild run at the Australian Open @AustralianOpen, as the South Korean Wonder Boy was forced to quit in the 2nd Set of their Semi-Finals encounter, due to injury.

Hyeon Chung @HyeonChung, 21, is the first ever Korean to set foot in the Semi-Finals of any Grand Slam.

He has been the most talked-about subject in the Australian Open, this year.

Hyeon Chung had beaten World No. 4 Alexander Zverev, and 12-Time Grand Slam Champion Novak Djokovic en route to the Semis.

Untested in deep waters, Chung succumbed to nasty blisters on his left foot, an unpretty picture of which he later posted on Instagram, with his appealing message: "Please understand".

After calling for a brief medical timeout, Chung retired in the 2nd Set, 6-1; 5-2, handing a rather unceremonious victory to Roger Federer.

"(It's) worse than regular blisters . .. it was blister, under blister, under blister", said Chung's agent later after the match.

Now, it's red raw. They tried injections to see if it numbed the pain. It didn't work", he added.

It was Hyeon Chung's first time in his young career to play 6 consecutive matches, reaching Semi-Finals in a Grand Slam.

HYEON CHUNG
In his Twitter message, Chung wished Roger Federer good luck as the "Greatest of All Time" advances to the Championship Finals - - for a record 30th time.

"I'm honored to share the court with you, said Hyeon Chung @HyeonChung, who has now become a national hero in his native South Korea following his incredible streak at the Australian Open.

Roger Federer, is more than gracious in his victory.

"This feels bittersweet, I'm incredibly happy to be in the Finals, but not like this", said Federer in his on-court interview, post-match.

Roger Federer, Australian Open Defending Champion, looks sharp and deadly as he now guns for a historic 20th Grand Slam crown.

He wil face-off with Marin Cilic in the Championship Finals.

"20ger" says one poster flashed by a Federer fan.
