TENNIS : CAROLINE WOZNIACKI TAKES FIRST GRAND SLAM CROWN AT AUSTRALIAN OPEN !

Caroline Wozniacki has finally broken her long stigma of being a World No.1 that never won a Grand Slam, following her epic Championship Finals triumph over Simona Halep at the Australian Open @AustralianOpen.

Wozniacki was World No. 1 for 67 weeks in 2010 and 2011 but never won a Grand Slam - - until today.

Wozniacki slugged it off with reigning World No.1 Simona Halep at the Championship Finals of the Australian Open in 3 Sets, with Wozniacki emerging victorious, 7-6; 3-6; 6-4.

"Dream come true", exclaimed Wozniacki @CaroWozniacki who threw her racket, dropped and cried lying on the ground after clinching the Championship point.

There was more on the line, aside from the Championship trophy, in Wozniacki and Halep's showdown.

The winner will not only be the Australian Open Champion, it also will be the new World No. 1.

"The winner takes it all", says the song at the Australian Open Championship opening program, shortly before the Wozniacki-Halep duel.

And so did Wozniacki.
