UFC President Dana White has fired back at Hollywood star Meryl Streep following her dig at "football and MMA" in her Golden Globe Awards speech Sunday night.Tweet
Dana White, in an interview with TMZ Sports, has alluded to Streep as an "uppity, 80-year-old lady" who is not expected to be within the demographics of Mixed Martial Arts.
Maryl Streep is 67 years old.
Maryl Streep has stirred a nasty controversy when she used her acceptance speech of her Life Achievement Award at the Golden Globe to criticize US President-Elect Donald Trump on some petty political issues recycled from both the US primary and presidential campaigns.
Worse, Meryl Streep didn't seem content with her swipe at President-Elect Trump, but took a dig at NFL and MMA, as well.
'Hollywood is crawling with outsiders and foreigners and if we kick them all out you’ll have nothing to watch but football and mixed martial arts -- which are not the arts!' said Streep with a full emphasis on the latter part of her line.
Outraged fans of NFL and MMA took to social media to express anger at Streep's statement.
Some called for a boycott on her movies and works.
While Bellator MMA President Scott Coker issued an open letter and invited Maryl Streep to be his guest and see an MMA fight.
Coker said he is a lifelong fan of Streep's and is also a lifelong martial artist.
Many saw Meryl Streep's speech as a well-crafted speech designed by Hollywood paid propagandists.
For one, its Democratic bias is very obvious, still sore with their shocking loss to the Republicans.
And two, NFL and MMA are the biggest threats to Hollywood business, in terms of TV ratings and viewership.
